So you want your own original design on your trucks? It's fun and
simple. Remember though the more your grind the less the paint will
stay on the top of the hanger.
Steps to How to Paint Skateboard Trucks
Step One - Completely disassemble both of your trucks. Because getting paint on your bushing will wreck them and hinder your turning ability.
Step Two - Take the bushings and put them someplace safe. They are the rubbery rings.
Step Three - Duck tape the kingpin, and axle spot were the wheels and nut goea, becuase they can not get any paint on it.
Step Four - The best paint to use it spray paint, becuase it will stay on he longest. Go outside on a sunny day and lay down cardboard or do it in the back lawn someplace, with your parents. Spray with the direction of the wind facing away from you. Hold the can about 3 inches form the truck parts. Than spray the colors you want.
Step Five - If you want a cool design, put it on the flat part of the hanger. Use a stencil, or make your own stencil.
Step Six - Do not touch it until it dries, than put the truck back together.
The end result is cool, becuase your trucks are now you favorite color. Just so you know though, they will eventualy fade, or the paint will rub off. The best way to have long lasting differnt color trucks is to buy them in the colors you like, becuase they will stay that color for the life of the truck.
The Proper Way to Measure Skateboard Trucks
You need a measuring tape, or a ruler. Than just measure the length of the axle. You need to do this to make sure it matches up with the width of your skateboard deck. You can measure the top of the hanger to the base plate to find out its heighth.
You can buy trucks that are considered low, medium or high. It's easier to stay standing on a board with lower trucks. You can also flip it around a lot better. The only bad thing about little trucks is they need little wheels and little wheels do not go as fast or as smooth as big wheels. Just becuase they both have advantages and disadvantages I always recommend getting the medium truck size. Whenever your at a skate park, just ask other skaters if you can try out their board for a minute and find out what kind of trucks they have. See if you like them. Most skaters won't mind at all as long as you don't hog their board!
